JOURNEY TO SOUTHERN PERSIA

The route from Saveh to the south of the country passed through Kashan, a stopover city on the Silk Road. Odoric of Pordenone (14th c.), an Italian Franciscan missionary, one of the few Western travelers to visit the Far East during the Middle Ages, named the ancient oasis of Kashan “The City of the Three Kings” because it was associated, according to him, with the story of the Three Wise Men.
