CINEMA VERITE AWARDS

Established in 2007 by award winning documentary filmmaker Joel Soler, CINEMA VERITE has been founded with the support of Nobel Peace Prize laureates Jody Williams and Wangari Maathai, as well as Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan. With the purpose of promoting humanist values through the medium of films, Cinema Verite has been able to support numerous film projects. These initiatives have included film screenings, followed by debates, in Paris, Monaco, Geneva, and Abu Dhabi, with the attendance of high profile figures such as Carole Bouquet, Catherine Deneuve, Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Sharon Stone, and Omar Sharif.

As a result of his personal commitment to his own craft, Joel Soler temporarily suspended the activities of CINEMA VERITE for several years. However, under the auspices of the Magos Foundation, the CINEMA VERITE AWARDS will start again in 2024.
The objective of the CINEMA VERITE AWARDS is to provide monetary assistance to either a filmmaker or a non-governmental organization in support of a film project that advances a particular cause. Ultimately, these awards aim to utilize film as a means to comprehend, enlighten, and generate awareness about the major issues confronting our world today, as well as to address the challenges of both the present and the future.
