THE ALCAZABA OF MALAGA: RESIDENCE OF NASRID PRINCES AND KINGS

Several kings and princes of the Kingdom of Granada, including Mohammed XIII, known as Al Zagall (the brave), governor of Málaga, and his wife Princess Equivila, granddaughter of Emir Yusuf IV, lived in the Nasrid palace in Málaga. In 1485, Al Zagall became the 23rd Emir of the dynasty. When King Muley Hacen, the penultimate Emir of Granada, was deposed by his son Boabdil, he moved to the Alcazaba of Málaga to prepare with his brother El Zagall the reconquest of the power.
