ABEN HUMEYA, KING OF ANDALUCIA, EMIR OF THE ALPUJARRA (1568-1569)

Aben Humeya was a presumed descendant of the Spanish Umayyad lineage. His Christian name was Fernando de Córdoba y Válor and his Muslim name was Muhammad ibn Umayya. This character is an important figure in the resistance and revolt of the Moors during the Inquisition in Spain. During this period, he was proclaimed King of the Moors. He was assassinated by his own cousin Aben Abou who succeeded him as king.
