MARCO POLO TESTIFIES TO THE PRESENCE OF THE TOMBS OF THE MAGI IN SAVEH

To reach the country of Gaspard the Wise Man in India, the Magi would have taken a road toward Saveh. According to Marco Polo, “In Persia is the city called Saba (Saveh), the Magi are indeed buried in this city, in three very large and beautiful tombs. And over each tomb rises a square house, well worked in its upper part.” As the writings of Eastern theologians attest, the Magi would have numbered 12. It is not surprising to find several tombs of the Magi on their way back.
