THE GREATEST TREASURE OF HUMANITY LEFT IN THE WEST BY THE KINGS OF THE EAST

The city of Granada is home to the Alhambra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among the most beautiful testimonies of the Hispano-Moorish art, this building was built by the Nasrid dynasty. "The Alhambra! The Alhambra! Palace that geniuses have gilded like a dream and filled with harmonies," according to Victor Hugo. King Yusuf I (1333-1353) and his son Mohammed V (1353-1391) gave the oriental magnificence to this palace. The decorative elements of the Abbasid, Fatimid, and Seljuk past and those of their contemporaries the Mamelukes and Mongols can be found here. Certainly, from Genoa (Italy), Christian artists also contributed to the magnificent frescoes that adorn the Hall of the Kings of the Alhambra.
