Kitbuqa, a bloodthirsty Christian general at the service of a grandson of Genghis Khan, proclaimed himself a descendant of the Magi. The massacres of Muslims from Baghdad to Syria led by a supposed descendant of the Magi fascinated the West. The writings of Prince Hétoum, monk and historian, cousin of the King of Armenia under Mongol domination, will give credibility to this supposedly prestigious genealogy. He spread in the West the legend of the Mongolian army led by a descendant of the Magi
