JEWISH PHYSICIANS IN THE SERVICE OF THE MUSLIM KINGS OF GRANADA

The physician Abraham ben Zarzar was trusted by Mohammad V (8th Amir). His son Yusuf II (11th Amir) also had a Jewish doctor. Another Jewish doctor, Yahya ben al Saig, had plotted in 1392 with the regent Halid to overthrow the ruler Yusuf II. His throat was slit. Muley Hacen (21st Amir) had as his private physician in 1475 Isaac Hamon, a member of a literate Jewish family.
