THE MAGI MEET KING
ABGAR V OF EDESSA

Passage through Anatolia leads us to the kingdom of Edessa (Osroene), which was ruled in the first century by King Abgar V whose wife was a member of the Atropatene dynasty, as was supposedly the case with Melchior. Several writings mention the meeting between Abgar V and the Magi, notably those of Vardan Areveltsi (13th century), one of the greatest Armenian historians and geographers.
