\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCharles Matthew Fernando, considerado en los siglos XIX y XX como la mejor autoridad sobre Ceil\u00e1n, pronunci\u00f3 un discurso en 1906 en Colombo en el que dec\u00eda del mago indio: “En su reino se llamaba Gaspar Peria Perumal. Era el Rey de Jaffna. Perumal sigue siendo un nombre tamil muy com\u00fan que significa el Gran Jefe. Al parecer, Peria Perumal vivi\u00f3 hasta una edad muy avanzada, ya que segu\u00eda vivo cuando el ap\u00f3stol Tom\u00e1s lleg\u00f3 a la India\u201d.
