En 1471, fue hecha prisionera por los nazar\u00edes durante una de sus incursiones en Castilla. Fue llevada a Granada y vendida al har\u00e9n del emir Muley Hac\u00e9n, que se enamor\u00f3 de ella. Se convirti\u00f3 al Islam y adopt\u00f3 el nombre de Zoraya (a veces Soraya, tambi\u00e9n Turaya o Soraya). Entonces se cas\u00f3 con el emir y se convirti\u00f3 en su favorita.
