Granada a trav\u00e9s de su madre, y se presume que descend\u00eda de los omeyas a trav\u00e9s de su padre, Diego Avis de C\u00f3rdoba, primo de Fernando de C\u00f3rdoba y Valor, que ser\u00eda nombrado rey de los moriscos con el nombre de Aben Humeya. En la Navidad de 1568, el general moro El Gorri ofreci\u00f3 a Alonso Avis Granada-Venegas la oportunidad de suceder a Aben Humeya como rey de los moriscos. El general hab\u00eda participado en la masacre del gobernador Juan Gibaja en Huecija. Alonso Avis Granada-Venegas decidi\u00f3 mantenerse fiel a la Corona espa\u00f1ola.
