Esta espada ceremonial fue ofrecida por los Reyes Cat\u00f3licos como cetro, s\u00edmbolo de autoridad suprema, a quien deb\u00edan reconocer como jefe de la Casa Soberana nazar\u00ed, don Pedro de Granada Venegas (nieto del rey Yusuf IV). El testamento de don Pedro de Granada Venegas sugiere que ser guardi\u00e1n de esta espada significa ser digno heredero de los atributos del poder real nazar\u00ed (\"para ser digno tenedor de tal atributo de realeza\"). Al no haber tenido hijos, Matilde Giustiniani, viuda del XIX marqu\u00e9s de Campot\u00e9jar, heredero de la \"Casa Real Nazar\u00ed\", adopt\u00f3 a su sobrina Carlotta Giustiniani, marquesa Cattaeo Adorno, que hered\u00f3 su fortuna. Carlotta, conocida como \"la \u00faltima reina de G\u00e9nova\", arque\u00f3loga de formaci\u00f3n y experta en arte, supo combinar las obras de Van Dick, Rubens y Tiziano con el tesoro de los Nazar\u00ed en el Palacio Durazzo-Pallavivini.
