Le royaume de la Reine de Saba (la Torah), la Reine du Midi (la Bible), Bilqis (Islam) s’étendait de l’Arabie du Sud à la corne de l’Afrique. Les vestiges d’un de ses palais sont toujours visibles à Axoum. Selon la tradition Éthiopienne, la Reine mis au monde un garçon 9 mois après sa visite au Roi Salomon à Jérusalem. A la mort de la souveraine, son fils Ménélik de confession juive, fondera en Éthiopie une dynastie, dont le 61ème descendant est connue sous le nom du Roi Bazen, alias le mage Balthazar. Dès le IIème siècle, les parchemins coptes et syriaques mentionnent un Roi Mage venant de Saba.
